[Zuluru] Registration changes

The next batch of registration changes are now available through github, and
live on the Zuluru.net server. Still more changes coming soon, so still no
new version number.

The main new registration feature in this batch gives the user the ability
to edit their registration choices, including which payment option they are
selecting and the deposit amount (if applicable), before payments are made.
Some of this was necessitated by the addition of an option to prevent
payment after a price point's close date. For example, if there's an "early
bird" discount that ends on Friday, after which the price goes up, allowing
someone to register (but not pay) for that on Friday and then pay the
reduced rate the following Tuesday is clearly not what we want. ALL
pre-existing price points now disallow payment after the closing date,
requiring unpaid users to edit their registration and select a new option
which is valid at the new time (if there is one). If you want to allow
people to pay for some things after the registration closes, you will need
to edit the applicable price points to permit this.

Also included in this release are 30+ other updates, some very minor or
fixing obscure bugs, others more significant. Uesful new features include:

*

	Addition of a default privacy policy. (The URL for your club's
privacy policy, if you have one, should be referenced in the
config/install.php file; the privacy policy is linked from the create
account and profile edit pages.)
*

	Issue a 410 ("Gone") error for iCal schedules of old teams and
games. Hopefully, Google Calendar, etc. will pick up the hint and stop
trying to sync games from years ago.
*

	Made the wording of score reminder emails more user-friendly, by
using positive terms like "remember" and "avoid" instead of "failure" and
"penalty".
*

	Added VCF options to make it easier for people to add contact info
(only info they would have access to, of course) to their contact manager.
*

	Provide better access to archived data, for example including team
events on the schedules of past teams and allowing access to notes and
attendance on past games.

The number of bugs fixed in this release means that this is maybe a more
important update to do than the previous one. I do expect that there will be
a bunch more little improvements and larger registration features coming
along in the next couple of weeks, though, so if updates are difficult for
you to do, maybe hold off for a bit; none of the bugs compromise security in
any way. The most serious bug, affecting standings calculations in specific
situations, was introduced in 1.7.4, so if you're running an earlier version
than that, then updating is even less urgent.

As always, if you have any questions about these changes or anything else in
Zuluru, just let me know!

Greg.

Subject: Registration changes

The first few features from the registration project are now available
through github, and live on the Zuluru.net server for anyone who is hosted
with me. There is no new version number for this yet, because the project is
ongoing; these first changes were required ASAP for a client whose
registration opens tomorrow.

New features include more precise payment management, including the ability
to issue full or partial credits or refunds (still offline only; support for
refunds through the online merchant will be coming) and to transfer payments
to a different registration. Registration events can now have multiple price
points, each with their own open and close dates, prices, registration
rules, and deposit options. And did I mention that it can also take deposits
now, if so configured?

If you are not hosted with Zuluru.net and you need any of these features
now, you should update. If you don't need these features, or you don't need
them yet, you might hold off on updating until the official version release,
which will be coming up in March. There may well be a couple more of these
interim notices adding more features before then, too.

As always, if you have any questions, ask away!

Greg.
